Many schemes and benefits are given by the government to help the poor financially. Our country has the highest population and the poverty is also high. The government provides many schemes to help the poor people of the country.
The poor families of our country do not even have a solid house to live in, so the government provides housing assistance to the poor families to live in. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, poor families are eligible to benefit from this scheme for housing. 
Crores of people are homeless in India. About 70 percent of people in India do not have their own house. Mumbai, known as the financial capital of the country, has the most homeless unfortunates. This is not the case today. Like many problems, this is an old problem of India.
Two decades ago, when 8-9 lakh people were homeless in the world, India’s figure was more than 5 crore. All the governments have made small and big efforts, but they have proved insufficient. Such a remarkable work could not be done after six and a half to seven decades. On 25th June, 2015, the Government launched the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, “Housing for All Scheme” was launched. The name of the scheme is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, but the tag of Housing for All has been put in it to ensure that all the homeless people of India get the facility of housing. It can be estimated from this how huge this scheme is.
While 22 percent of the urban population is affected by this scheme, it affects 28 to 30 percent of the people living in the villages.
