In the festival of Diwali we do rituals like buying books, book worship, Lakshmi Pujan. Then in the year 2023 we will know about the dates of Dhanteras, Diwali and Bestu years and which four days are good for performing puja rituals.

There are many festivals in Hinduism but if there is one biggest festival it is Diwali. People who have gone to work on Diwali festival are waiting to go home. The festival of Diwali is a holiday in offices and schools. On Diwali, people buy new clothes and since it is the festival of Khashi, people buy sweets.

The five-day festival of Diwali falls between October 13 and November 14 with the rise of the new moon. On the Hindu calendar it is placed on the new moon day at the end of the month of Ashwin and the beginning of the month of Kartaka, beginning on the 13th day of the dark fortnight of the month of Ashwin (28th tithi of Ashwin) and ending on the second day of the light fortnight of the month of Katrak (second tithi of Kartaka). There are regional variations in the main days of celebration.

According to Hindu belief in many parts of India and Nepal, this festival celebrates Rama’s arrival after 14 years of exile and his victory over Ravana. Diwali means string of lights. We also light lamps in our homes and believe in happiness.

Diwali is also celebrated to celebrate the return of King Rama of Ayodhya with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana to Ayodhya 14 years after Ravana’s death in exile and war. It is believed that the people of Ayodhya made ghee lamps to illuminate the dark path.

As Rama traveled from South India to his kingdom in North India, he first passed through the South. For this reason, this festival is celebrated a day earlier in South India. Diwali in the year 2023 is from 9th to 13th November. Dhan Terash is on 10th and Kali Chaudash is on 11th and Diwali is on 12th.
