Currently, the government offers 2 percent discount on short-term loans up to Rs 3 lakh for all financial institutions. That means farmers are getting a loan of 3 lakh rupees at 7 percent annual rate. Farmers who pay on time are also getting an additional annual discount of 3 percent.
